These armchairs carry a beautiful retro flair and, judging by the upholstery and construction, they’re a prime example of 1960s Czechoslovak design—most likely produced by furniture makers such as TON, Tatra Nábytek, or Dřevotvar.
Their hallmark features include a geometric upholstery pattern in shades of brown and beige, which was highly popular at the time. The armrests and legs, made from stained oak, are mostly straight—true to the modernist aesthetics of the era. The construction is simple yet solid, typical of mass-produced pieces for apartments, offices, or waiting rooms.
Some of these models were designed by lesser-known talents like Jaroslav Šmídek or Jiří Jiroutek, who worked for firms such as TON or the UP manufacturing cooperative.
