Hacker GAR 600 is an elegant British radiogram from the late 1970s that combines stylish design with high-quality sound. It is one of the last models produced by Hacker Radio Ltd., once renowned for its top-tier equipment.
The system includes a quality belt-drive Garrard 35SB turntable, a three-band tuner (FM, MW, LW), and an input for a cassette player or external device (DIN/Tape/Aux). It is built into a wooden cabinet with a wooden lid, featuring an elegant finish, often in a light teak shade.
On the front panel, there is a headphone output, a subsonic filter, a high-frequency filter, and the ability to set favorite stations using color markers.
Hacker Radio Ltd. was founded in 1960 by the Hacker brothers, who had previously run the company Dynatron (since 1927). In 1973, they received the title "By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen" as an electronics supplier to the British royal court.
The company faced financial difficulties, changed ownership in 1977, and eventually ceased to exist after a factory fire in Bournemouth in 1980.
